Nowadays, the use of the internet is growing among the youths. Write two paragraphs expressing your opinion on 'Uses of the Internet' in about 150 words.

Answer

Uses of the Internet

The internet has become an essential part of our daily life, especially for young people. It is a vast source of information. Students can search for notes, watch educational videos, join online classes and prepare for exams at home. It also helps us to communicate quickly and cheaply through email, social media and video calls, so that we can stay in touch with friends and relatives living far away.

Besides study and communication, the internet offers many other benefits. We can shop, pay bills, book tickets and bank online without going out. It also provides entertainment such as music, films and games, and opens job opportunities through freelancing and online work. However, we must use it wisely. Spending too much time on social media or visiting harmful sites wastes time and can be dangerous. In my opinion, the internet is a boon if used carefully and for a good purpose.

When you want to make your home secure, you lock the door. When you want to prevent your bike from being stolen, you use a bike lock. When you want to protect your valuable possessions, you keep them in a safe. But what do you do to protect your identity online?
Modern life is fundamentally intertwined with the internet. Nearly every daily task now has the opportunity for online integration, and almost everyone owns multiple devices, including laptops, phones, tablets, smartwatches, smart TVs and many more. The more accounts and devices you have online, the greater the potential is for criminals to access your personal information and take advantage of you.
Online safety is important no matter your age or life stage, but there are particular concerns for certain vulnerable groups like children, teenagers and senior citizens.
When it comes to internet safety, it's best to start with the basics. Here are some tips to guide you as you evaluate your online habits and make small changes to ensure your privacy and security on the internet.
While creating a new password, pay attention to strong password requirements. Use different user IDs or password combinations for different accounts. Make the password more complicated by combining letters, numbers, and special characters and create hard-to-guess passwords and keep them private. Change your passwords quite often. Don't share your passwords with other people. Make sure passwords and password hints are stored securely. Record passwords in an encrypted file on your computer, or select another secure password storage method. Avoid writing them down. Prevent "auto-login", uncheck "Keep me signed in" and "Remember my password" options.

Use of Computers

Computers are electronic devices that have become very useful in modern days. They are used at home, in offices, businesses, hospitals, banks and schools. Computers make our work easy and fast. We can write documents, prepare reports and send emails with them. They can also store a large amount of data safely and let us find it quickly. In hospitals they help to keep patients' records and run machines, and in banks they manage accounts. Besides work, computers provide entertainment as we can watch films, listen to music and play games. Thus, computers are very useful for everyone in the present world.

Write a dialogue between two friends who are talking about the misuse of mobile phones. Write at least in six exchanges in about 150 words.

Answer

Dialogue on the Misuse of Mobile Phones

Sita: Hello, Rita! You look tired today. What happened?

Rita: I stayed up late last night playing games on my mobile, Sita.

Sita: That is the problem. Many students misuse their phones. They waste hours on games and social media.

Rita: You are right. My marks have also fallen because I do not give enough time to my studies.

Sita: Some people even use phones while driving or share false news and private photos, which is dangerous.

Rita: I see. Then how can we use mobiles properly?

Sita: We should use them only for study, useful information and calling family, and set a time limit for entertainment.

Rita: Thank you for the advice. From today, I will switch off my phone after finishing my homework.

Read the text and do the tasks.
When we reached the place I got out of the car and walked around. There was no girl in sight. Some hundred meters away, a car with dark windows was parked on the other side of the road. On the nearby playground, some boys were playing cricket and a couple of cows were munching dried hay. I looked at my watch and started pacing up and down the road. I looked at the car and started walking again. The car started and sped away. I again consulted my watch. Ten minutes up: no sign of any girl. I walked to my car, got into it and said, "You see, I was right. There is no one here. The girl you chatted on the internet must have been a fake."
Next day, at lunch time I retold the whole event to my colleague, Dhurva. "So you think that some bad guy was trying to approach your daughter?" He smiled.
"Why are you laughing?" "Let me tell you why the girl friend of your daughter didn't appear at the meeting place. It was because her mother came with her in a car before you reached there. The mother was watching if there was really a boy of 13. But all she could see was an old man with a big stomach and a bald head lurking around the meeting place. So she didn't let her daughter get out of the car. She just drove the car back home."
