Mention any one interrelationship of sociology with geography.
Answer
Sociology studies human society, while geography studies the earth's surface and its physical features; the two are interrelated because geographical factors like climate, landforms, and natural resources influence social institutions, settlement patterns, and ways of life.

What is sociology? Show the relation of it's with other branches of social science anthropology, history and psychology.
Answer
Sociology is the scientific and systematic study of human society, social relationships, social institutions, and social behaviour. It studies how people interact with one another, how groups and institutions (family, caste, religion, state) are formed, how they function, and how they change. The term was coined by Auguste Comte in 1838, and sociology was established as a separate discipline mainly through the works of Emile Durkheim, Max Weber, Herbert Spencer, and Karl Marx. Its main subject matter is society, social interaction, social groups, social institutions, and social change.
Sociology is closely related to the other social sciences, yet it remains distinct from each of them.
1. Sociology and Anthropology Both study human beings and society, and both use similar methods such as observation, interview, and fieldwork. Sociology studies modern, complex, and large-scale societies, while anthropology mainly studies simple, small, primitive, and tribal societies. Sociology studies a part of society (like family, caste, or crime), whereas anthropology studies the whole society and culture of a community. Sociology gives more importance to social relationships, and anthropology to culture and biological evolution of man. In practice, the two overlap so much that they are often called twin sisters.
2. Sociology and History Both study human beings and their past and present activities. History studies past events in chronological order and describes them as they happened, while sociology studies present social life and social relationships. History is descriptive and particular (it studies particular events, persons, and periods), whereas sociology is analytical and general (it seeks general laws and patterns of social behaviour). History provides the background material for sociology, and sociology helps history by explaining the social forces behind historical events. Thus they are interdependent.
3. Sociology and Psychology Both study human behaviour. Psychology studies the behaviour, mind, and personality of the individual, while sociology studies the behaviour of people in groups and society. Psychology explains individual behaviour through mental processes, whereas sociology explains social behaviour through social interaction, culture, and social structure. The two meet in the field of social psychology, which studies how society influences individual behaviour. Thus psychology studies man as an individual and sociology studies man as a social being.
Conclusion Sociology is the science of society. It shares its field with anthropology, history, and psychology, but each has its own focus: anthropology studies primitive culture, history studies the past, psychology studies the individual mind, and sociology studies social relationships and society as a whole. Hence sociology is related to all of them, yet it is an independent social science.
