Answer

The Minister in Disguise

Once a minister wanted to know the real situation of the country. So he disguised himself as an ordinary civilian and began to move around alone. Nobody recognised him as he walked through streets and markets, listening to people.

However, some policemen noticed this strange stranger and suspected that he was a terrorist. They arrested him and asked for his identity. The minister denied being anyone special and said he was just a citizen. The police did not believe him, interrogated him cruelly and threatened to keep him in prison for a long time.

At last, the minister revealed his real identity. The police were shocked and apologised again and again. The minister forgave them, but he advised them to make careful investigations, so that innocent people would not be troubled.

Moral: Never judge a person by appearance, and investigate carefully before punishing anyone.

Answer

A Good Deed in the Dark

Himesh was on the terrace, watching the last rays of the Sun. Suddenly, he heard a shout coming from the street. He ran down the stairs to see what had happened. Out of his horror, he saw a man lying on the street. The floor was full of blood.

A few people stood around, afraid and unable to decide what to do. Himesh did not wait. He knelt beside the man and saw that he was still breathing. He tore a piece of cloth and pressed it on the wound to stop the bleeding. Then he asked a neighbour to call an ambulance and told another to inform the police.

Within minutes the ambulance arrived, and the injured man was taken to the hospital. The doctors later said that he survived only because he reached the hospital on time. The man had been hit by a speeding motorbike. The next day, his family came to thank Himesh with tears in their eyes.

Moral: Quick help in time of need can save a life.

Summarise the following text in approximately 150 words. Write only the ideas of the original text but do not include your own opinions, interpretations, deductions or comments.
Madhav Prasad Ghimire is a renowned Nepali poet who has given a great contribution to Nepali literature. He is one of the last of the oldest generation of poets in Nepal. He was motivated by the works of Rabindranath Tagore. He is a poet of the romantic tradition. He has written many incredible books such as Gauri, Malati Mangale, Himal Pari Himal Wari, Aswathama, Rajheswari, and Shakuntala and he is well known for his inspiring works. He was honoured as Rashtra Kavi (poet of the nation) of Nepal. He is undoubtedly one of the rare poets in Nepal to gain fame and fortune, and not the unfortunate forgetfulness they normally receive.
But the greatest asset of his life is its simplicity. He is a very simple person with a simple taste, but his verses are varied and complex. However, for some, he is a Himalayan poet and for some the poet of love and harmony. However, this truth cannot be denied: he is a lyric poet and one of the true servants of Nepali literature.
It is also a national treasure associated with the golden age of Nepali literature. He is one of the last of the oldest generation of poets whose contemporaries, Bal Krishna Sama and Laxmi Prasad Devkota, have become historical figures in the annals of Nepali literature. It is known that in his masterpieces such as Gauri and Malati Mangale he portrayed terrible truths of society. This literature was most praised by the Nepali people. Some of his other important literary works include Himal Pari Himal Wari, Rajeshwori, Aswathama, and Shakuntala which are most appreciated.
He is a simple man with a complex and different perception. Rastra Kavi Ghimire was cited as a source of inspiration in the Nepali literary brotherhood. Not only writing but also his will to live has inspired many Nepali people. According to him, there are three mantras to live longer; Easy exercise or yoga, positive thinking, and creativity.
For him, education in his own life is very important, since it takes a person from darkness to light and it is very important that Nepali youth should learn these things from him. He is respected by the people of Nepal.
"I think poets should be able to go beyond the social hierarchy and bring visions to humanity, and by using their poetic abilities, they should be able to expand the mind and pursue the truth.", this is a great sentence by Madhav Prasad Ghimire.

Summarise the following text in about 150 words. Write only the ideas of the original text but do not include your own opinions, interpretations, deductions or comments.
Anuradha Koirala was born on 14 April 1949. She was born as the first child to colonel Pratap Singh Gurung and Laxmi Gurung. She belonged to an educated family and, therefore, pursued her education at St. Joseph Convent School. She says, mother and sister in her school motivated her to do social work and regards Mother Teresa as her huge inspiration. She spent her 20 years teaching in schools in Kathmandu.
Ms. Koirala was married at a very young age. But, her relationship did not work well as she suffered from domestic abuse from her husband. She believed the domestic abuse was the sole reason she had to miscarry her baby three times she felt hopeless and tortured each time. So, she left her husband. She had nowhere to go. The only place where a woman, in that situation, thinks to go is "Maiti". But unfortunately, some women are even thrown out from Maiti. That's when Anuradha felt a need for an organisation that would support and shelter those women.
It was April 1993, Anuradha Koirala started "Maiti Nepal" in a small house in Kathmandu with her own savings. "Maiti Nepal" refers to "Mother's home", with an aim of empowering women and protecting them from domestic violence and trafficking, Maiti Nepal was born. Koirala, with her own income, initially started up the organization and helped eight women, who were victims of domestic violence, open their own shop and be independent. The network grew and UNICEF decided to support the organisation. This is how Maiti Nepal grew from small house organization to multi-branch organization.
Maiti Nepal now has various branches and a wide range of services. Its vision is to create a society free of sexual and other types of exploitation against children and women. It has been actively working on making their vision come true. It is conducting various activities including social awareness, counselling, participation, skill development, women empowerment, etc. It protects girls from being trafficked and also rescues trafficked girls from brothels in India. After rescuing them, as they are not accepted in their own dogmatic society, Maiti Nepal shelters them, counsels them, and, gives them new life.
Koirala says, her organisation has been giving an impact on society and she is happy to bring some change in the society from her side. She also says her happiest day will be when Maiti Nepal ceases its existence as it will be the day, society will be free from human trafficking and domestic violence.
Anuradha Koirala has been awarded 38 National and International awards for her contribution to the society. Some of the best awards she received include Best Social Worker of the Year Award in 1998, Prabal Gorkha Dakshin Bahu Medal (Nepal) in 1999, Trishakti Patta Award in 2002, The Courage of Conscience Award from the peace Abbey Foundation in 2006, German UNIFEM prize in 2007, Queen Sofia Silver Medal Award in 2007, CNN Hero Award in 2010, Mother Teresa Award in 2014 and Padma Shree Award in April 2017.

Answer

Anuradha Koirala was born on 14 April 1949 in an educated family and studied at St. Joseph Convent School. Inspired by Mother Teresa, she taught in Kathmandu schools for twenty years. She married young but suffered domestic abuse and three miscarriages, so she left her husband. As she saw that even Maiti sometimes rejects women in such a condition, she felt the need for an organisation to shelter them.

In April 1993 she started Maiti Nepal, meaning "Mother's home", in a small house in Kathmandu with her own savings. At first she helped eight abused women open their own shop. With UNICEF's support, the organisation grew into one with many branches.

Its vision is a society free from the exploitation of women and children. It offers awareness programmes, counselling, skill development and women empowerment. It prevents girl trafficking, rescues trafficked girls from brothels in India, and shelters, counsels and rehabilitates them, since society often does not accept them.

Koirala says her happiest day will be when Maiti Nepal is no longer needed. She has received 38 national and international awards, including the CNN Hero Award in 2010 and the Padma Shree Award in 2017.
