पूर्वीय दर्शन र नेपाली समाजबीचको सम्बन्ध उल्लेख गर्नुहोस्।

Answer

Eastern philosophy includes the thoughts of Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, Kirat and other traditions of South Asia, such as the concepts of dharma, karma, moksha, non-violence, truth, compassion and harmony between humans and nature. Nepali society has been shaped deeply by these ideas, as the following shows.

  1. Religion and belief: Most Nepalis follow Hinduism or Buddhism. Ideas of karma (action and its result), rebirth and dharma guide people to do good deeds and lead a moral life.
  2. Values and morality: Truth (satya), non-violence (ahimsa), compassion (karuna), tolerance and respect for elders and teachers are taught as basic virtues, shaping behaviour and family life.
  3. Religious harmony: Hindu and Buddhist traditions are intermixed in places such as Pashupatinath, Swayambhu, Boudhanath and Lumbini, and people respect all faiths, which creates harmony.
  4. Festivals and rituals: Dashain, Tihar, Buddha Jayanti, Shivaratri, Teej and Maghe Sankranti are based on Eastern philosophical and religious beliefs, and life-cycle rituals like birth, bratabandha, marriage and death rites follow them.
  5. Family and social structure: The joint family, respect for parents, the guru-shishya tradition, and ideas of duty (karma) and community cooperation come from Eastern thought. The caste system also has roots in the old varna concept, although this has been criticised and discarded legally.
  6. Education: Gurukul and monastic traditions, Sanskrit learning and teachings of the Vedas, Upanishads and Buddhist texts have influenced the way knowledge is valued.
  7. Nature and environment: Worship of rivers, trees, mountains, the earth and animals reflects the belief that humans are part of nature, which supports conservation.
  8. Health and lifestyle: Yoga, meditation, Ayurveda and simple living are widely practised for physical and mental wellbeing.
  9. Art, music and architecture: Temples, stupas, pagodas, paintings (paubha), sculpture, bhajans and folk songs reflect Eastern philosophical themes.

In short, Eastern philosophy forms the foundation of Nepali values, culture and way of life, while society also needs to reform harmful practices and adapt to the modern world.

Clarify any five efforts that are being held for social transformation in Nepal.

Answer

Nepal has been carrying out several efforts to remove social evils, reduce inequality and build an inclusive and just society. Five of them are clarified below.

1. Legal and constitutional provisions The Constitution of Nepal (2072 BS) guarantees equality before law (Article 18), the right against untouchability and discrimination (Article 24) and the right to social justice (Article 42). Laws such as the Caste-based Discrimination and Untouchability (Offence and Punishment) Act, 2068 BS and the Domestic Violence (Offence and Punishment) Act, 2066 BS give these rights legal force.

2. Affirmative action and reservation To bring excluded groups into the mainstream, seats are reserved for women, Dalits, Janajatis, Madhesis and persons with disabilities in legislatures, the civil service and scholarships. This narrows the gap between privileged and deprived groups.

3. Awareness campaigns against social evils Government and NGOs run campaigns through radio, FM, street drama and community meetings against dowry, child marriage, untouchability, deuki, kamlari and chhaupadi. The Muluki Criminal Code, 2074 BS (in force from 2075) criminalises chhaupadi. Such campaigns change attitudes and behaviour.

4. Education, health and economic empowerment Free and compulsory basic education, scholarships for girls and Dalits, vocational training, cooperatives and employment schemes such as the Prime Minister Employment Programme raise the income and awareness of disadvantaged groups and reduce dependence.

5. Institutional and participatory efforts The National Human Rights Commission, National Women Commission, National Dalit Commission and National Inclusion Commission protect rights and promote inclusion. Local governments plan social programmes at the grassroots, and women participate in community forest user groups, cooperatives and school management committees.

Conclusion: Together these efforts have raised literacy, reduced caste discrimination and increased participation of women and marginalised groups, though continued effort is needed.
