Answer
Meaning: Emotions such as anger, fear, joy, sadness, jealousy and love are natural. They become harmful when they are uncontrolled. Emotion management means recognising our feelings, understanding their cause, and expressing them in a healthy way. Life skill education (LSE) teaches practical skills that make this possible, so it plays a strong role.
How life skill education helps (with reasons)
- Self-awareness: LSE trains learners to identify what they feel and why. Only a person who knows "I am angry because I was insulted" can deal with the cause rather than act blindly.
- Coping with stress and emotion: It teaches deep breathing, counting to ten, meditation, exercise, music, talking to a trusted person and time-out. These lower the intensity of anger or anxiety before it turns into harmful action.
- Communication and assertiveness: Learners practise expressing feelings in "I" statements, such as "I feel hurt when...", instead of shouting or keeping silent. This prevents quarrels and bottled-up pressure.
- Empathy and interpersonal skills: Understanding others' feelings reduces jealousy, hatred and conflict, and improves friendships and family relations.
- Critical and creative thinking, decision making: Thinking about consequences before acting prevents impulsive acts such as violence, substance abuse or self-harm. Anger becomes a signal to solve a problem rather than to hurt someone.
- Problem solving and conflict resolution: LSE gives steps for settling disagreements peacefully, so emotions do not escalate.
- Practice through activities: Role play, case studies, group discussion and games let students rehearse emotional control in a safe setting, so the skills are used in real life.
Example: A student who fails an exam may feel despair. With LSE skills the student names the feeling, shares it with a teacher or friend, makes a study plan and tries again, rather than quitting school or harming himself or herself.
Conclusion: Emotions cannot be removed, but they can be guided. Life skill education gives awareness, coping, communication, empathy and decision-making skills, so it is an effective means of managing emotions and leading a balanced, productive life.

As a teenager, explain any five duties that you have to fulfill in your family.
Answer
As a teenager, I am a responsible member of my family, and I have several duties to fulfil towards it. Any five of these duties are explained below:
1. Respecting and obeying elders: My first duty is to respect my parents, grandparents and other elder members of the family. I should obey their advice, listen to their guidance and behave politely with them. This maintains discipline and harmony in the family.
2. Helping in household work: I should assist my family in daily household activities such as cleaning the house, washing utensils, arranging my room, buying groceries and looking after younger siblings. Sharing work reduces the burden on my parents and teaches me the value of labour.
3. Taking care of younger and elder members: I have the duty to love, guide and support my younger brothers and sisters in their studies and behaviour. Similarly, I should take care of elderly members by helping them in their daily needs and giving them company and respect.
4. Studying well and bringing good results: As a student, my primary duty is to concentrate on my education, study regularly and bring good results. Good academic performance makes my family proud and prepares me to support them in the future.
5. Maintaining good conduct and family prestige: I must behave well inside and outside the home, avoid bad habits and bad company, and not do anything that brings shame to my family. By being honest, disciplined and cooperative, I help maintain the prestige and unity of my family.
In this way, by fulfilling these duties sincerely, I can contribute to the happiness, peace and progress of my family.

Answer
Stand: I agree that critical study (analysing information with evidence and questioning assumptions) is still weak in Nepali society, though it is slowly improving.
- Rote learning: The education system emphasises memorising for examinations rather than analysis and questioning.
- Respect for authority: Culture of unquestioning obedience to elders, teachers and leaders discourages debate.
- Rumours and fake news: Social media content is often shared without checking sources.
- Weak research culture: Few schools and colleges give practical research training and libraries are limited.
- Political blind loyalty: People support parties or leaders emotionally rather than on the basis of performance.
- Superstition and tradition: Practices such as witch-hunting (boksi) and untouchability continue without reasoning.
- Limited reading habit and resources: Lack of reading, critical books and trained teachers limits independent thinking.
- Positive signs: Youth debate, the right to information, media and civic groups are increasing, but overall critical habit is still weak and must be strengthened through inquiry-based teaching.
Conclusion: Critical study should be promoted through project work, debate and media literacy for a rational and progressive society.

Answer
Creative thinking is the ability to generate new, original and useful ideas and to look at problems in different ways. In my experience and from what we see around us, it contributes to personal capacity development and social transformation in many ways.
1. Role in developing an individual's capacity
- Problem solving: When I could not find a quiet place to study at home, I made a study schedule and a small corner with a lamp, instead of giving up. Creative thinking gives ways out of difficulty.
- Self-confidence and independence: People who produce their own ideas, in projects, drawings or science models, gain confidence and decision-making power.
- Better learning: Making mind maps, charts and stories for lessons helps me remember and understand better than rote learning.
- Career and entrepreneurship: Creative people see new opportunities, like a young person starting a business around local products.
- Adaptability: Creative individuals adjust easily to new technologies and situations.
2. Role in social transformation (examples from society)
- Social entrepreneurship: Women's groups in many villages produce handmade paper, Dhaka products and organic goods, giving income and empowerment.
- Technology and service: Ride-sharing apps, eSewa and Khalti, and online learning during COVID-19 improved services through innovative thinking.
- Waste and environment: Community recycling, composting and biogas plants, plastic-free campaigns and rainwater harvesting arose from creative solutions to local problems.
- Social reform: Campaigns against child marriage, dowry and chhaupadi often use street drama, songs and social media creatively to change attitudes.
- Local innovation: Micro-hydro projects, improved cooking stoves and school gardens show how communities solve problems with their own ideas.
Conclusion
Creative thinking develops the potential of an individual and brings new solutions in society. Therefore schools and families should encourage curiosity, questioning and experimentation so that creative citizens can transform Nepal.

Answer
Meaning: Self-criticism is honestly examining our own weaknesses and mistakes. Self-evaluation is judging our own strengths, performance and progress against goals. Together they are important life skills.
How they build confidence
- They give clear knowledge of what we can and cannot do, so we set realistic goals.
- Recognising and correcting weaknesses brings real improvement, and visible improvement raises self-confidence.
- Acknowledging strengths builds self-respect, and honest review reduces fear of failure.
How they encourage creativity
- A person who accepts mistakes is willing to try new ideas and take risks.
- Reviewing earlier work shows what to improve and leads to better, original solutions.
- Seeing weaknesses calmly keeps the mind open to feedback and new learning.
Examples
- A student who scores low in science reviews the paper, finds weak chapters, makes a study plan, and later scores better. The student's confidence rises and he or she tries science projects.
- A young writer examines drafts critically, rewrites them and then dares to publish or enter a competition with a more creative piece.
- An entrepreneur reviews why the first product failed and creates a better design.
Conclusion: Constructive self-criticism and fair self-evaluation, avoiding both harsh self-blame and pride, make a person confident and motivate creative effort.

What would you do to have public participation for rescue and safety measures if natural disaster like flood, landslide occurred in your region? Prepare a checklist.
Answer
Checklist for Ensuring Public Participation in Rescue and Safety Measures During Floods and Landslides
Before the Disaster (Preparedness Stage)
- Form a community disaster management committee — include ward members, teachers, youth clubs, women's groups and local health workers so that every section of society is represented.
- Prepare a hazard and resource map of the region — mark flood-prone riverbanks, landslide-prone slopes, safe shelters, evacuation routes, and available boats, ropes, ladders and vehicles.
- Conduct awareness programmes — organise street dramas, door-to-door campaigns, school drills and radio announcements on early warning signals, evacuation routes and first-aid basics.
- Train local volunteers — give basic training in search and rescue, first aid, swimming, and handling of stretchers and life jackets.
- Fix clear roles and responsibilities — assign specific duties to each group (warning dissemination, rescue, first aid, shelter management, food and water supply).
- Establish an early warning system — install sirens, bells or mobile phone alert groups so that information reaches all households quickly.
- Store emergency materials — keep tents, tarpaulins, dry food, drinking water, medicines, torches, batteries and rescue equipment in a safe community store.
During the Disaster (Response Stage)
- Disseminate warning immediately — use sirens, loudspeakers, whistles and phone calls to alert people and guide them to safe places.
- Evacuate vulnerable groups first — help children, the elderly, pregnant women, sick persons and persons with disabilities to move to safer locations.
- Mobilise volunteer rescue teams — carry out search and rescue using local boats, ropes and improvised stretchers, without waiting only for outside help.
- Provide first aid and transport the injured — set up a temporary first-aid centre and coordinate with ambulances and health posts.
- Manage shelters properly — keep shelters clean, ensure separate space for women and children, and distribute relief materials fairly without discrimination.
- Maintain law and order — form a local security group to prevent panic, looting and misuse of relief goods.
After the Disaster (Recovery Stage)
- Assess damage jointly — involve local people in counting losses of lives, houses, livestock and crops so that relief reaches the genuine victims.
- Coordinate with government and non-government agencies — share correct information with the ward office, rural municipality, Red Cross and NGOs.
- Organise relief and rehabilitation work — distribute relief through transparent lists, and involve the public in rebuilding houses, trails and embankments.
- Review and improve — hold a community meeting to discuss weaknesses in the response and update the disaster preparedness plan for the future.
Conclusion: Public participation makes rescue and safety measures quick, cheap and effective. When local people are aware, trained and organised, they become the first responders and reduce dependence on external help, thereby saving more lives and property.

Analyze the inter-relationship between Critical thinking and Creative thinking.
Answer
Critical thinking and creative thinking are often treated as opposites, but in practice they are two sides of the same coin. Critical thinking is convergent — it evaluates, tests and judges ideas. Creative thinking is divergent — it generates many new and original ideas. The inter-relationship between them can be analyzed as follows:
1. They are complementary, not contradictory. Creative thinking produces a wide range of possibilities; critical thinking then filters, evaluates and selects the best among them. Without creativity there is nothing to judge; without critical thinking there is no way to know which idea is worth keeping. A person who only creates may produce many useless ideas; a person who only criticizes may produce nothing new.
2. Critical thinking feeds creative thinking. Before creating something new, one must first question the existing situation — "Why is this so? Can it be done better?" This questioning is an act of critical thinking, and it opens the door to creative alternatives. For example, a student who critically examines the weaknesses of the present education system is more likely to imagine creative reforms.
3. Creative thinking strengthens critical thinking. When we think of many possible solutions, we have more options to compare and evaluate. Creativity thus gives critical thinking more material to work on, and helps us avoid narrow, one-sided judgment. It also helps us see a problem from new angles, which makes criticism fairer and deeper.
4. They work together in problem solving. The problem-solving process moves in a cycle: generate ideas (creative) → evaluate ideas (critical) → refine or generate again (creative). Each stage needs the other. This is why brainstorming first separates idea-generation from judgment — ideas are produced freely, then judged critically.
5. They support innovation and decision-making. Innovation requires both: a new idea (creativity) and proof that it works (critical thinking). Similarly, good decisions need creative options and critical evaluation of their consequences. In business, science, art and daily life, the balance of the two produces quality results.
6. They develop each other through practice. Activities such as debate, project work, case studies and open-ended questions train both skills at once. Questioning assumptions develops critical thinking; finding alternative answers develops creative thinking. Thus the two grow together.
Conclusion: Critical thinking and creative thinking are interdependent and mutually reinforcing. Creativity without criticism is blind; criticism without creativity is barren. Their balanced use — "create widely, judge wisely" — is the key to effective thinking, learning and problem solving in the 21st century.
